Regional data residency options mean your data can be hosted in a South African (or otherwise compliant) Azure region, so "cloud" doesn't have to mean "data leaves South Africa." It's worth confirming this explicitly with whoever sets up your platform, but it's a solved problem, not a reason to default to on-premise.

Making the Decision for Your Business

For a growing SME without a dedicated IT department, cloud almost always wins on total cost of ownership and speed to actually seeing value.
